Size Guide

The ‘True Colours’ sweater has been designed with Kat Farmer (super star blogger @doesmybumlook40) and is influenced by Kat’s favourite 80’s Cyndi Lauper pop classic of the same name. The lyrics of that song have a special meaning for Kat and make her think of her son who has Aspergers and ADHD. In her words, the lyrics “describe how [I] feel as a mother of a child with Aspergers and ADHD who often doesn’t fit in a society that can be intolerant with a lack of understanding and compassion”. A donation of 25% of the profits from the sale of this sweater on our website, will go to a charity chosen by Kat – The National Autistic Society.

Care Instructions

Orwell + Austen manufacturer’s guidelines state that your jumper can be washed in the washing machine, on a delicate/cold wash, using a detergent specifically designed for delicate fabrics.
However, as washing machines may vary, we would recommend – to be on the safe side – hand washing the sweaters, to ensure they have a long and happy life with you!
Machine Washing:
• Place your cashmere items in a mesh washing bag to protect them from snagging and tangling.
• Follow the instructions on the bottle of the detergent to know how much product is needed to wash cashmere in your machine.
• Air dry flat.
Hand washing:
• Use the recommended amount of fine-garment detergent and briskly run your hand through the water to distribute the detergent and generate suds
• Wash inside out and submerge the sweater, gently squeezing the suds through it.
• Spot treat any problem areas with a squirt of neat detergent and massage gently with fingertips
• Rinse and repeat where necessary and allow the sweater to soak for 10 minutes.
• Rinse your sweater with cool water until the water rinses clear.
• Gently press water out and place it lengthwise on a clean, dry bath towel. Roll up the towel and press with your palms to squeeze out excess water – do not wring or twist.
• Remove the sweater from the towel and smooth it out into its original shape.
• Lay the sweater flat on a dry towel and allow it air-dry

Contrary to popular belief, pilling on cashmere is not a sign of poor quality or a design fault. The pilling is a natural characteristic of the long fibres and can be easily removed using a cashmere comb, electric depiller or a sweater stone. Avoid depilling precious cashmere pieces too often as this may result in holes.
